Importance of teachers in our lives

Teacher’s Day is celebrated in different countries on different days in different ways. The essence is the same- a Day to be grateful to the noble community of teachers in whom lie the future of the Nations. In some countries it is a holiday while in other countries children and teachers go to school to celebrate, children make special cookies and treats and give gifts to their teachers. Teachers Day also have different names in different countries.

In India, Teachers Day is celebrated on 5th September every year in honour of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, an academic philosopher and the second President of India. On his Birthday, “Shikshak Diwas” is celebrated- a day in which teachers and students attend school as usual but the academic curriculum is in the hands of the senior students who come dressed as teachers. It is a day of celebration and giving thanks to the teachers for their relentless and selfless service to the future generations of the Country.

A good teacher is like a candle who consumes itself to light the way for others. It is only correct that a Day be dedicated to this noble fraternity for their continuous efforts to make good human beings.
